Artworks

Hello, I’m Vincenzo Greco, a contemporary painter born in Sicily.
My painting is deeply rooted in the warmth of my homeland, where light, material, and memory merge in a timeless dialogue. Sicily is the origin of my artistic vision: a language that intertwines the strength of matter with the energy of Mediterranean colors, transforming each artwork into a unique sensory experience.

A Personal and Experimental Technique

Over the years, I have developed a personal and experimental painting technique that combines sand from the Valley of the Temples, sponge, wood, and recycled materials. These elements, chosen for their symbolic and material value, form the foundation of a three-dimensional painting where the surface lives, breathes, and transforms with the light. My art is a synthesis of tradition and innovation, creating a dialogue between the ancient history of my land and contemporary sensibilities.

Matter as a Language of the Soul

Each of my artworks is a tactile and visual story, where material conveys emotion and memory.
The sand collected at the base of the Temple of Concordia in Agrigento is not just a material, but a fragment of time and history reborn on canvas. In this process, painting becomes sculpture, the surface becomes a weave of light and depth, inviting the observer to see with their eyes and feel with their soul.

Textures created with wood, sponges, and recycled materials generate visual vibrations that shift depending on perspective and light, offering a constant dialogue between art and nature. Each color, relief, and shadow becomes a metaphor for collective memory and the passage of time that shapes and regenerates matter.

From Sicily to Venice: A Journey of Recognition and Research

My work has been showcased in numerous contemporary art exhibitions in Italy and abroad.
Notably, my participation in the Venice Biennale at the prestigious Palazzo dei Piombi marked a significant moment of dialogue with both the public and critics, earning praise for renewing the conversation between art and material.

Subsequent exhibitions in cities like Milan, Bologna, Naples, Rome, and Palermo have further strengthened interest in my work, characterized by a strong connection to Sicilian land and a contemporary approach to materic painting.

Tradition, Experimentation, and Sustainability

My art is born from the desire to unite tradition, innovation, and respect for the environment.
The use of natural and recycled materials is not only an aesthetic choice but also an ethical one: a way to give new life to matter, transforming what might be forgotten into something eternal. Each painting becomes a bridge between past and future, a creative act that renews harmony between humans and nature.

Art That Speaks to Heart and Mind

My artworks are meant not just to be observed, but experienced.
Each creation is an invitation to enter a world of sensations: earth transformed into color, light into movement, and matter telling ancient stories. In this dimension, painting becomes an emotional language capable of connecting the human soul with the essence of reality.

My four-dimensional vision stems from this desire: to go beyond the surface and form, exploring the time and memory embedded in the very matter itself.

Contemporary Art Connecting Sicily and the World

Today, my work and its international sales reflect a constantly evolving journey. My artworks are held in private collections and exhibited internationally, recognized for the originality of the technique and the evocative power born from the encounter between materic art, Mediterranean light, and sustainability.

Each painting is an authentic fragment of my Sicily, a small universe where matter becomes poetry, and painting opens to the world with a universal language.

TESTIMONIALS

What people say about me

“Vincenzo Greco employs an experimental technique, a method rarely seen today. This approach reveals a profound world, just beneath the surface, floating atop the golden texture of the material. Only a few colors are used to transform the Sand of the Valley of the Temples into true art. His artworks and mosaics are genuinely stunning!”

Vittorio Sgarbi
Italian Politician

“If memory serves me right, my first encounter with Mr. Vincenzo took place in 1998. Our relationship has since developed, helped in large part by the fact that we both share a deep passion for the same art. I was responsible for organizing several exhibitions of his works in Tokyo and Osaka.

Vincenzo Greco is both a hands-on artist and a true theoretician. He never compromises and is extremely dedicated in his research — a determination that sometimes works to his disadvantage. Yet, I cannot help but admire his extensive knowledge across multiple disciplines.

His creative approach and devotion to traditional methods are clearly reflected in his recent, remarkable series of works. I feel a profound sense of emotion in witnessing the publication of a book featuring his artworks, marking the completion of his one-hundredth piece.

I would like to conclude by expressing my sincere hope that he continues to pursue this art form in the years to come.”

“The Lights and Shadows series evokes a world of infinity, dreams, and imagination. The faces, the moon, the shells, and the leaves create the impression that it is the wind of silence itself that is blowing.”
